Cancun is back on its feet and we are expecting to see you very soon at our Real Resorts
Most of our hotels Real Resorts are in good condition and we are looking forward to your visit, to provCancun was devastated by one of the most powerful hurricanes recorded in history; still, it is up and running, working to re-build this wonderful and enchanting paradise. With the citizens' help and vast Army and Marine resources, as well as teams belonging to the electricity and phone companies that came from all over the country, this destination is getting back on its feet at an accelerated pace.
More than 90% of the streets, including Kukulkan Boulevard , which spans the Hotel Zone, are clean and accessible; 65% of the electrical power and 70% of the water service in the city was restored. Dozens of businesses have opened, among them banks, restaurants, stores and hospitals, with many more opening each day. The police have already re-established the order and are helping citizens and tourists to deal with security matters.
Cancun International Airport , including the airlines' offices, has reopened its doors to the general public and the charter flights will begin to operate on November 29. The central bus station, ADO has deployed its first buses with tourists and locals traveling to cities near Cancun , as well.
The President of Mexico, Vicente Fox Quesada, has approved credits for U$S20 million for investing in beach restoring, using state-of-the-art technology, to have Cancun operating at an eighty percent of its tourist capacity by December 15, 2005 . In order to assist small, medium and big companies, the government is also granting loans totaling U$S340 million.
The Riviera Maya has suffered minimal damage, there were no victims and no injured people and there are several hotels operating at a full capacity right now. This happened thanks to the ample prevention measures taken by the Riviera Maya's tourist industry and the efficiency in re-establishing the public services. The tourists that have remained in the spectacular Riviera Maya are already enjoying again the white-sand beaches and the blue-turquoise sea.
We are working at Real Resorts to fix our facilities and provide you an even better service and we are happy to inform you that some of our resorts have opened its doors to receive tourists as of now. To clear any doubts, we offer you a detailed explanation of the status of our resorts.
Royal Porto Real: This luxurious hotel located in the tourist beautiful Playa del Carmen, which inaugurated on October 16 didn't sustain considerable damage and is operating right now. Thanks to Wilma, the beaches that were previously fabulous have increased their size even more. Almost all of its restaurants are opened and some will open within a week. Reservations are being accepted as of immediately.
Real Playa del Carmen: We had minor problems on some rooms, which had been repaired; nevertheless this hotel is operating normally. We are taking reservations right now.
Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen: Damage were minimal, mainly in restaurants and rooms. The resort will be closed through November 30. We will close our doors to make reparations and we are accepting reservations as of now for December 1 onward .
Gran Costa Real Cancún: This deluxe resort will open its doors on December 15, 2005. But Wilma left us as a present a biggest extension of beach. We are accepting reservations now for December 15 onward.
Gran Caribe Real: This hotel has suffered the most due to its location on the open sea. We hope to finish all the repairs of the towers section on December 15, 2005 . We will keep you posted on the progress of these reparations.
